DO NOT use in an automobile!
All these sounds are very relaxing and some may even slightly alter consciousness. NONE of these sound files are appropriate for use while driving!!!
Use of this site could not be easier...
Click shell or lettering for description and sample.
Button with "Buy Password" (all are just $2.95) allows you to pay for a password that will enable entering the area (web-page) with the sound you want.
Button with "Enter" takes you on into the page with the sound. The password lasts for three days. During that time, you can go in anytime and download the audio. You can download more than once, like for example, if something interrupted the first download (which happens a lot on dial-up, Grrr!).
Sound Of Waves
This is a sound-file of actual waves (surf) recorded at a Florida beach.
Simulates having a hotel-room overlooking the sea.
Great for sleeping! Even I, the recorder of it, did not know the extent of its effectiveness. Click on the shell or linked-text above for details, samples, and even a brief account of my experience of recording it, plus some tips on using it. A suggested CD label is provided, in thumbnail form. If you purchase the actual sound-file, you will also be provided with a huge, uncompressed .bmp of the CD label for actual printing, if you want.

Distant Surf Though synthesized, it does sound just like the surf, or a waterfalls, at some distance. Distant Surf is really soothing and some folks may even prefer its constant level of sound, rather than the waxing/fading sounds of "close" surf as in the sound-file above. Click shell for details and samples. A suggested CD label is provided, in thumbnail form. If you purchase the actual sound-file, you will also be provided with a huge, uncompressed .bmp of the CD label for actual printing, if you want.

Rainy Night In The Bayou sound-file-set. Two sound-files are thirty minutes each and a third is eleven minutes.
All three together, are for the price below. For listening, any one of the files can be put on "Repeat 1" or some such wording, depending on the player. All three, stored as an "album" (depending on player), or all on the same CD if burned to a CD, can be put on "Repeat-disc (or -album)" for a great background ambiance.
Real thunder and a great depth of sounds (one frog must have been only five feet away from the microphone) produces a rather wide dynamic range, so it might not be suitable for sleep inducement for some people. But it does makes a great background or ambience sound. It causes you to feel like you are in a serene wilderness, even though you may be surrounded by neighbors (neighborhood or apartment).

Distant Surf with 4 hertz (cycles-per-second) "difference-frequency": This is a mildly psychoactive sound file. Okay, now this really takes some explaining. Click on the shell or linked text for explanation. To sum up, this CD could indeed be instrumental in assisting you to have an "out-of-body" experience.
NO PROMISES, THOUGH! Click shell for details and samples. Also, a suggested CD label is provided, in thumbnail form. If you purchase the actual sound-file, you will also be provided with a huge, uncompressed .bmp of the CD label for actual printing, if you want.

Distant Surf and Drum This is a mildly psychoactive sound file, like the above two. Instead of using a difference frequency, this sound-file uses constant, monotonous drumming at the rate of 4 beats per second to achieve the effects of the above two sound-files. Some people respond better to drumming than the difference frequency between two tones.

Listening Hints
Speakers in the 4-inch to 8-inch size fine. Player should be quality enough to have a treble and bass control.
Bass: Maximum
Treble: Lowest to no more than one-quarter.
Volume: As desired but no higher than necessary to "cover" neighborhood, or city, etc. noises.
What I did:
Just for purposes of suggesting... I purchased a Samsung digital audio player, model YP-U2J. These things come and go but I'm sure there is something similar available. It has a capacity of 512 megabytes which is enough to store 5 of the above audio files. I put it on a slight bass boost. I then put it on repeat play and "let her rip". It plays all night long. I play it through speakers that are only 3 inches. The bass is surprisingly good. The Samsung recharges from the computer's USB port, so there are no batteries to buy.
Usually, I listen to either "Sound Of The Surf" or "Distant Surf" at night. During day I listen to "Rainy Night in the Bayou".
Pricing
Prices are all an insignificant $2.95; mere "money vapor".
Keep in mind, a "track" for most music is one to four minutes, typically.
The Sound Of Surf and other nature sound files are around sixty minutes. That is more like an album, which, if using a music store, is usually $9.99. Of course, those are famous singers and bands.
Downloading
I test downloaded the longest file, which, in this case, is the Distant Surf. It is 102 megabytes. The other files or file-sets are the same or slightly smaller than that. I have an "average" DSL. I downloaded that longest file in about seventeen minutes; not too long. Anyway, that was much better than waiting two to five days for mail. Other DSL services will be about that or a little better. The newer DSL services will be quite a bit faster. Cable will be fastest.
Dial-up users though, may have to download for eight to nine hours. Just set your computer on to the job before bed. In the morning, it will be done... unless the connection dropped, which does happen sometimes on dial-up, GRRR! In that case, just try again. I have seen some instances where a download will pick up where it was interrupted, saving having to start all over. If your three days run out, contact me with your invoice number, user name and password and I will extend it another three days.
To summarize: These sound-files are instantly available, no mailing hassle, and the prices are insignificant. So now you can get your soothing nature sound instantly and be sleeping better tonight!
